Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Adult LITE – North Lincolnshire

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Adult LITE – Thursday 30 March 2017

Some people would say it is “unlucky 13” but on this occasion, the thirteen people who attended the half-day MHFA Adult LITE workshop organised by North Lincolnshire’s Citizen Advice Bureau would say differently.  The Adult LITE workshop is an introductory mental health awareness course delivered over three and a half hours but provides a good overview around various issues of mental health.  The attendees had an opportunity to engage in a couple of activities and watch films regarding the subject matter covered.  A really good group to work with and thanks are extended to the commissioner for asking me to deliver this workshop.

Jackie and Brigid from the Yoga Bank, Widnes contacted me about delivering a MHFA Standard workshop at their premises.  They want their instructors to be identified as Mental Health First Aiders.  The workshop was delivered on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October 2016 in the yoga studio and instructors plus eight external candidates attended.  Their knowledge and experience around mental health and commitment/dedication in raising awareness and reducing stigma and discrimination around mental ill-health is commendable.  A brilliant two-days spent with lovely people.  Hopefully we will be back next year to deliver another workshop.

“I thought this was a very thorough and accessible course.  Debbie is clearly very knowledgeable.  I would recommend this to other people, whatever their role”

“Really enjoyed the course.  It has opened my eyes.  I have mental health issues and thought I knew a lot, this course has taught me so much regarding techniques and understanding”
