Alcohol Awareness Week 2014 – 17th-23rd Nov 2014

This year’s Alcohol Awareness Week runs from 17th to 23rd November. The theme for this year is ‘Facing our alcohol problem: Taking back our health and high streets.’

Local authorities and other organisations, from pharmacies to treatment service providers, get involved to raise awareness of alcohol issues and the impact it can have on our health and communities.

Did you know

· Alcohol is a causal factor in more than 60 medical conditions, including: mouth, throat, stomach, liver and breast cancers; high blood pressure, cirrhosis of the liver; and depression

· In 2011 there were 8748 deaths directly related to alcohol in UK

· The recommended daily units for men are 3 -4 and women 2 -3
